The Easter weekend has arrived here in Kenya and much has happened over the last few days of my visit here.
On Wednesday afternoon I went out visiting door to door with 2 of the FYM’s, Steve and Michelle, and 2 Kenyan’s from the church they attend, Francis and Edwin (who translated and went to the doors initially for us).
We ended up talking to a number of people that afternoon, some believers, some Muslims and then the last one we talked to we lead to the Lord (her name is Mary).
She told us she had a dream a while ago that she saw someone dressed in white and knew she needed to be saved, but didn’t know how.
She asked us to explain to her how to be saved.
I was able to share the gospel with her and she wanted to pray and ask Jesus to save her!
And, on top of that, we found out that her daughter (who is about 16) has been attending the church some of our students go to.
  Mary had not been atte
nding because she has a 4 month old baby.
So Steve volunteered to hold the baby for her while she attended the service.
  It was great.
Pray for Mary that she may now grow in her faith.

Yesterday, Thursday, I was able to teach on Paul’s conversion from Acts 9 with the FYMers.
We had a good discussion on what it means to live in the fear of the Lord, from Acts 9:32.
I loved getting back into teaching the Word again.
  I find it a

privilege to be able to teach the Word.
Pray for me as I’ll be teaching all next week as well.
Tomorrow afternoon the team is putting on a youth rally.
They have a band lined up, a Christian rapper, and will be showing the movie “The Passion of the Christ.”
Today some of them spent the afternoon riding the streets in a truck and passing out fliers.
They are hoping for a large turnout.
Pray that many will hear the gospel and respond to it.

It’s a different world here in Kibera.
There are people everywhere, which also means there are many people to minister to.
We are the only mission organization which actually lives in the slum.
Many come in to do ministry, but they don’t live here.
We are known as the only “mazungu” (white people) living here.

I wish each one of you a blessed Easter as you celebrate the resurrection of our Savior.

One response to “Good Friday”

  1. Glad you arrived safe! May the rest of your trip be a blessing to you and in return for those FYM’ers and the Africans as well.
