After spending a couple days in Indianapolis with Vicki's family this week, we are now in Ft. Wayne, IN getting reading to go to the wedding of a former student. Aaron Smits will be married today at 1:30 PM. It's so encouraging to see someone who we spent time ministering to and discipling, to be living for the Lord 8 years later as he enters into this marriage relationship.
I remember Aaron going on that first mission trip with us to the San Blas Islands in Panama. It was his first mission trip, only a freshman, but I believed he could handle this higher level trip. And he did a great job. Over the years he has told us that going on that trip had a huge impact on his life. It was one of those trips that was life changing for him. That's why Vicki and I are involved in mission work, providing mission opportunities for people like Aaron. They can be life changing for them.
Tomorrow, we then leave for NJ. My mom had the tube inserted on Tuesday, but still has not really woken up. As we go out there I'm not really sure what to expect. Will she be awake? Will she know we are there? Whatever her condition, one thing I know is that she's in the Lord's hands. I don't know how people without the Lord make it through times like this. It's so comforting to know that mom is a child of the Lord and He is taking care of her.
