I spoke with my dad last night.  Mom had surgery last week to remove a tumor on her kidney.  As they removed the tumor they also had to remove the kidney which the tumor was growing on.  The surgery was successful and mom is recovering.  It’s amazing, it was an arthroscopic surgery, making just a small incision to remove the tumor and kidney.  She is doing well.  She went from the hospital to a nursing/rehab home early this week.  They are trying to get her to use a walker so she can walk a little.  She’s been in a wheel chair for a while.

It’s hard to see your parents going through these things.  Yesterday, dad had a small bout wth a kidney stone.  He passed it, but was in a great deal of pain for a while.  It’s assuring to know that they are both in the hands of the Almighty God.  When mom was being admitted they asked her some questions to see if she was all there.  One question they asked was “who are you?”  After a pause, mom came back with “I’m a child of God.”  The nurse responded with, “well we’re all children of God.”  To which mom replied, “only if you know Jesus as your Savior.”  I think her mind is still working and she still knows who she is.

  1. God is so amazing in how He has helped your mom through everything and He still has a purpose for her here on earth! I will keep her in my prayers!

  2. Sorry to hear about your folks and their health problems, please do yourself a favour and check out this website: http://www.hacres.com, you will find it very interesting.
Trust that all will go well, that Mom will recover completely and that Dad too will regain his full health, in Jesus name, Amen.
    Bless you all

  3. Just to say Amen to (my older brother) Dave’s comments. I visited Mom last Wednesday the 25th at her rehab facility and observed a radiance I could only attribute to the marvellous grace of our loving Lord. She was sharp as a tack mentally and spiritually in our 45 minute visit. She was honest with her feelings that she had some fear before the surgery that her remaining kidney would fail, but that she knew it was wrong to fret. The Lord sent her a timely message during a praise service there at the rehab center a few days later that it is impossible for a Christian to both fret and rejoice at the same time. God has been so good to her these days, and good to all of us in the family, by prolonging her days, giving her added days on this earth so that the rest of us may permanently benefit from observing her godly testimony and example. When the time came for the kids and I to say good-bye, mom asked me to close in prayer and I was careful to ask the Lord to help me to follow in her footsteps and in the steps all of those who have gone before us in the Faith. There she was so peaceful in the midst of many patients who were not. Grace, grace, God’s grace…
