Wow, over a month without a post up here.  I didn’t realize it had been this long until I saw the date of our last post.  It was while we were in Swaziland with our two FYM teams.  There has been so much that has happened since then, so much to talk about.  I don’t want to make this a book, so here are some of the highlights of the past month:

  • We returned from Swaziland feeling encouraged by the heath of our teams and leaders.  They are doing well in spite of the fact that we are short-handed with leadership.  We have 3 leaders leading 2 teams, but they are doing well.
  • When we got back to the office we were slammed from a number of different angles.  We were tired and felt under attack of the enemy.  We took time off, evaluated our schedules, took some things off our plates and feel good about the decisions we made.  We were both stretched too thin and trying to do too much.
  • Our interns led a Disciple Now weekend at our church.  They did a great job and we were so proud of them.  God is working in each of their lives.
  • We took a quick trip to NYC March 14-17.  Josh’s marching band was in the St. Patrick’s Day parade on 5th Avenue in Manhattan.  Our interns went as well and did a couple days of ministry in the Bronx and then attended church with us in Montvale, NJ at MEFC.
  • We stopped and visited my mom & dad in Trenton on our way up to NYC.  Mom was in the hospital and was being transferred back to the nursing home later that day.  She was unresponsive the day we were there, not sure if she knew who we were.
  • I had minor surgery this week to remove a cancer spot on my stomach.  It took about a 3 inch incision to cut it out even though the spot was only a couple centimeters.
  • March was a busy month in the admissions department as application deadlines approached and names had to get on many tickets.  There’s a good group of high school and college aged individuals going out on one and two month trips this summer.  Vicki heads up the admissions department.

I could have written a blog on each one of these bullet points, and should have, but with the business did not get to it.  Ministry is busy.  There is never a time when the “job” is finished.  There’s always another call to make, another e-mail to send, another person to meet with, another meeting to attend, another update to write.  We realized that we needed to slow the pace down a bit and invest more time in our family and be there for them.  We made those adjustments and feel so much better.  Maybe now we’ll be able to keep these pages updated more.  Thanks for all your prayers for us.
