I just heard on the news last night that the whole month of August has been in the 9
0’s and 100’s.  In fact the last time we didn’t hit the 90’s was on July 29 when the temperature only reached 89 degrees.  Oh, how I miss Minnesota at this time.  I just checked the temperature in Lakeville and it’s only 72!  It’s currently 95 here in Gainesville.  And it’s very dry.

We are currently experiencing the driest year on record.  We are over 16″ behind in rainfall.  I can’t remember the last time it rained.  Our lake close by is losing water by the feet.  The shoreline is getting bigger and bigger, docks are now on dry land and the lines marking off the swimming areas are lying on the ground.  I planted 20 young evergreens back in April and May.  Only 8 of them are still green.

As we look around at our area we hope and pray that this season will soon pass.  Hopefully, in not too long a time we will be looking back and rejoicing that those days are behind and a new season has come.

There’s been times in my life like that.  Times when my spiritual walk has been dry, times when I’ve been poured upon and times when I’ve feel like I’m being blown all over by hurricane Dean.  But each of those times have been growing times as the Lord continues to mold and shape me into the image of His Son.   We can grow through those seasons.

Now if I can just survive this season here in Gainesville.
