After 28 hours of travel across 8 times zones, I arrived at the FYM house in Kiberia last night at 10:00 PM local time.
I saw part of the team last night and met the rest of them this morning (with the exception of Kayla who is off for a few days).
It was great meeting some of them, some for the first time, others I met briefly in

Baton Rouge in September.

This morning I went with Denise and Alysha to the

Adventure
School.
It’s a school we run for K-7, with about 350 students.
Pictured here is one of the buildings in which we have classes.
We are running out of space in the school.
We have some areas where 3 classes meet in the same room at the same time. The school pro

vides education for the kids in Kiberia who wouldn’t normally get the education.
Even though public education is free, there are fees that go along with attending the schools which many cannot afford.
We provide the education for 50 shillings a month (about 70 cents), which still some cannot afford..

Kiberia is a slum with about 1.7 million people packed into 1.5 square miles of space.
  There are literally people everywhere.
With that many people packed into that small of a space leads to many challenges as well as many opportunities.
Pray for our team as they minister to the people here in the slums.
Pray for God’s protection and that he would continue to bless the ministries going on here.
