Life is full of decisions.
I’ve had my share of them over the past few weeks.
First, we have been looking for a home to buy and found one about a few weeks ago.
Then came the decision of financing.
We live in an age where we have so many options.
Years ago when I bought my last house I went into the bank, applied for a loan, was accepted, we closed and I paid the fees.
Now there are all kinds of options out there.
You go on the internet and you can check with E-Loan, Ditech, Lendingtree, etc., etc.
You know, when banks compete, you win.
Well, I’ve found out that when banks compete, you get harassed!
I’ve been getting all kinds of e-mails and phone calls from these brokers all trying to sell me and get my business.
Each one claims to be able to get the lowest rates and best deal.
But which one is the best?
It was so hard to determine because even when comparing side by side you still weren’t sure.
One had no application fee but an administrative fee.
One had their closing costs listed, but the appraisal was paid outside of closing, the other had the appraisal in the closing costs.
It about led to nausea.
I finally made the decision with one of the lenders, but the battle still wasn’t over.
I continued to get e-mails and calls from those I turned down telling me I was making a mistake, that they had a “better” deal.
I eventually told them my mind was made up, I signed the papers with one lender and sent them in.
Whew!
I am so glad every decision in life is not like this financing one.
God’s Word gives us clear direction on how to live and our decisions need to be made accordingly.
But so many times Satan tries to tell us he has a “better” deal, and we listen to him.
He is so deceptive and full of lies.
Now I’m not saying that these lenders are full of lies (although I did question some), but I am so glad we have a standard we can measure our decisions by.
When we need to make the important decisions in life, we don’t need to go on-line to find the best answer, we simply use the old fashioned way, and seek the Lord and His Word.
