The camera came out yesterday as I took a group of our kids to their ministry site in Mamelodi. Mamelodi is a township outside of Pretoria, in which it is estimated around 1.5 million people live. Our FYM’s are involved in a ministry with a cresh there (a daycare facility). They have opportunity each afternoon to go to this place, teach a Bible lesson, sing songs, play with them, help with the babies, etc. The ministry is both to the kids and to the few workers at this place. It’s amazing how many children are there in this small place. In one room, maybe 12×6, there were over 30 toddlers, one on top of the other (you can see some in the pictures below). Each one of these children comes from a tough background. Some are sick, some are probably HIV positive, we don’t know, they haven’t been tested. But all need someone to hold them, to play with them, to show them someone cares. The women running the cresh do the best they can, but there aren’t enough of them. I am thankful that we can provide some relief for them and share the love of Christ with them and the children as we minister to them.
Check out the pictures below. They speak for themselves.
