Over the past couple weeks my mom has been in the hospital. She has had Parkinson’s disease for the past 24 years and is at the point now where she has a lot of difficulty in swallowing. In fact, for the past 3 days she has not been able to swallow at all. Since she cannot swallow, that means she also cannot get the Parkinson’s medication she needs. There is only so much they can run through the IV. On Tuesday, December 26, she is scheduled to have a feeding tube inserted into her stomach.
Right now she is doing a lot of sleeping. She sleeps because she doesn’t have the medication she needs. The doctors aren’t concerned about the sleep she’s getting and said once they get the tube in and get her medication going again, she’ll once again be alert.
As I think about my mother this Christmas, I thank God for her life, her love, and the Godly example she has been to me over the years. I have been blessed to have godly parents who trained and discipled me over the years.
Thanks for your prayers for her and for my dad during this time.
